Gestures of a Geomantic Gardener, 2024
Dissolving boundaries between the tangible and invisible is central to the collaboration with the Pforzheim Geomancy Group.
Through a process of fieldwork and subsequent letter correspondence the results of this dialogue manifest in a series of interventions in the built environment. Geomancy is concerned with perceiving the ethereal world, fostering a positive impact on our environment and heightening one’s senses in search of harmony. What role can an extrasensory practice play in our natural and built environment? How can geomancy be used to question and expand a conventional approach to spatial practices? What does a geomantic world look like?
Between the Reuchlinhaus courtyard and Hohenwart Forum a portal between two sites is established,
a twinning of two bodies of water based on geomantic principles. Additionally, a significant mapping of Hohenwart Forum based on geomantic site-reading is made visible in the ground through a spiral walk on the outdoor areas of the conference center and hotel.
